• Built in 1976, the Meadowlands Complex in East Rutherford, NJ had never had a rail connection. Constructed in conjunction with the new MetLife Stadium, this New Jersey Transit station has direct access from all major railways in New Jersey and New York.
• The new 9,500 SF station consists of twin multi-story structures that are connected by a pedestrian bridge over the tracks. Each building abuts a 950’ long platform with entry from either the Stadium side or the Arena side. Both contain full power and electric, HVAC, storefront glass and ceramic tile flooring. Public address, fire alarm and security systems including CCTV and were installed. A control room monitoring train traffic is located on the first floor of the western building. A separate, completely enclosed outdoor waiting area was constructed on the western platform protecting passengers from the elements.
• All work took place concurrently with the construction of the new stadium. With numerous contractors onsite at all times working in close proximity, precise coordination between the two projects became a necessity. Ultimately, both projects met their completion deadlines.
• This station can accommodate up to 10,000 riders per hour allowing for the easy flow of foot traffic to and from the Complex. This modern facility now makes mass transit an attractive alternative for traveling to and from sporting events, concerts and attractions at the Meadowlands.
