• Performed restoration and rehabilitation for adaptive repurposing of existing 130 year old building for use as a meeting / conference center • Constructed new lobby and reception areas, elevator, bathrooms, banquet room and storage areas • Created new courtyard area including walkways, curbs, drainage and landscaping • Installed new mechanical room, HVAC, electric, plumbing and fire protection system • Project achieved Silver Level LEED certification for satisfying green building requirements

• Built in 1884, this structure was part of the complex that housed Rogers Locomotive Works, manufacturer of more than 6,000 steam locomotives for railroads around the world. Among their most memorable engines was Union Pacific #119, one of the two trains which met in Utah in 1869 for the famous “Golden Spike” ceremony joining the rails of the first transcontinental railroad across the U.S. Our task was to preserve this historic site and create an inviting and attractive venue for its new purpose in the Great Falls National Historic District: as a meeting and conference center. • Phase I of the project consisted of the development of a new courtyard area near the main entrance including concrete, curbs and drainage replacement. Brick paver walkways were added along with stairs and a barrier-free wheelchair lift creating easy access for the public. • Phase II required converting both floors of the two-story building into usable meeting and conference space. A visitor’s reception office, lobby, new bathrooms, multiple storage areas and banquet room were constructed and a new elevator was installed. A new mechanical room and new HVAC were added and electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded. A new fire protection system completed the project. • Despite the demanding guidelines for historic preservation, the project rated a Silver Level LEED certification based on green building requirements. This renovated facility now has both the history and modern amenities to attract visitors to the Great Falls National Historic District.
